Our electric vehicle made its television debut on Friday, March 5th, 2010, when reporter Ryan Yadao stopped by to interview Lou and filed this report.
As of March 27th, we are still making the final connections to get our truck on the road. We are preparing for two exhibits: one at Mandalay Bay on April 17th and another at UNLV for Earth Day on April 22nd. We are preparing the truck for its new paint, as well as painting the interior trim and recarpeting the floorboard. Stan Hanel, of the Electric Vehicle Club will be coming over this week to help trouble shoot all of our connections to make sure we are ready to drive. Along with Bill Kuehl and Lloyd Reece, he has been very helpful in getting us to this final stage.
It seems unreral that we are finally ready to drive our conversion project, afer almost a year. It was amazingly easy, even though we had a hug learning curve, with little meachanic experience, and no electrical conversion know-how. This should be inspirational to others out there who want to try to convert to electric energy.
ReplyDeleteThis is a work in progress, including how to audit this blogspot, which I am still learning. I take pride in my spelling, but clearly need to proofread better before I post commentary. Overlook the mispells, please, while you get to the meaning of my message. We want as many as possible to share the thrill of having their own electric vehicle transportation, and are available to help in anyway needed.
ReplyDeleteWe have had another five months to otherwise perfect our work on NRGYMAX and still continue to make needed improvements. We have added a heat sink to the controller to combat the Las Vegas summer heat. We also exchanged chargers (Russco for Manzanita) to more fully charge the batteries and get the range we need. We are still not painted, but hope to soon. We have put about 200 "gas free" miles on the truck, which feels awfully liberating! As it states on our blogspot: passthegasgoelectric!
