NRGYMAX now has a new flash decal on either side of the bed, further identifying it as an electric vehicle. With the new paint and the flash, it is beginning to look like a finished product.

Bill also joined us at the Eco-Fair, bringing his '94 Hyundai to exhibit. Jon helped us by providing a shade awning, which kept the sun out of our faces while we talked to interested attendees.

We took NRGYMAX to the Eco-Fair where we talked with attendees about the benefits of driving electrically, without gas and oil. This was a nice round trip test for the truck: 25 miles, and up hill all the way home.

After finishing the work on NRGYMAX, I had to drive it down to Shelton Battery to show it off. NRGYMAX is powered with 20 6 volt deep cycle batteries, giving it 120 volts of battery power wired in series as a battery pack. So far, the range is about 25 miles on an overnight charge.

Conversion Highlights

When Lou and I decided to do the electric conversion, we first thought we would be rehabing used batteries, because our internet source said they had done it. So Lou collected old batteries for that purpose. We soon learned that any old battery was not good enough, but still used these as core exchanges for our deep cycle 6 volt batteries which we purchased through Shelton Batteries here in Vegas.

Our electric vehicle made its television debut on Friday, March 5th, 2010, when reporter Ryan Yadao stopped by to interview Lou and filed this report.
As of March 27th, we are still making the final connections to get our truck on the road. We are preparing for two exhibits: one at Mandalay Bay on April 17th and another at UNLV for Earth Day on April 22nd. We are preparing the truck for its new paint, as well as painting the interior trim and recarpeting the floorboard. Stan Hanel, of the Electric Vehicle Club will be coming over this week to help trouble shoot all of our connections to make sure we are ready to drive. Along with Bill Kuehl and Lloyd Reece, he has been very helpful in getting us to this final stage.
